Chia seeds keep you regular. How? They contain a high amount of fiber which slows down your body’s conversion of sugars and helps you digest and break down everything you put into your body. They’re also very healthy for you – chia seeds contain high levels of anti-oxidants and beneficial omega 3 fatty acids which help your body ward off sicknesses. Yet despite the many benefits of chia seed, not that many people eat them! That’s partially due to the fact that the word hasn’t really spread about chia seeds but also it’s due to their bland taste. Chia seeds don’t taste like much and people don’t really know how to eat them. One cool way to eat chia seed is by mixing them with some sort of liquid like milk or water because they expand into a gelatin like texture. And you guessed it – chia seed make great jello! But even better, to satisfy the sweet tooth, chia seed make great pudding! Here’s my favorite way to eat chia seeds: Vanilla Pudding.
What you’ll need:
1 cup almond milk
3 tbsp organic raw chia seeds (they expand so trust me, that’s enough)
1 tsp coconut nectar or liquid vanilla stevia (nu naturals brand works great) or 1 tsp real vanilla extract
1 tsp cinnamon
1 handful of organic raisins (no sulfur added) or Goji berries
TIP: For chocolate pudding add 1/2 tbsp raw cacao powder
How to make:
Blend all ingredients together, except for the chia seeds. Pour this liquid mixture on the seeds and allow to ask for 10 minutes or until seeds and mixture have come to a pudding texture. Enjoy!
